Doing anything besides extending Trey is a bad look for the front office. Trey has played his ass off and is having another great season, despite not being satisfied with his current deal. They told him they would revisit negotiations after the season. They need to suck it up and extend him at market value. He's by far the best player on defense right now and what he brings in terms of nonstop effort and passion for the game would be as hard to replace as his productivity. The last thing this teams needs is to create another glaring hole, especially on defense.

Trading Trey probably shouldn’t be off the table as much as it pains me to say that. He’s our best defensive player since Geno, but I’m not sure he matches our competitive timeline at this point. They’re not fixing this defense in one offseason. Maybe not even in two. It needs to be completely rebuilt. He’ll just go to waste here anyway with little to no help. If they can get a nice haul for him they have to consider it.

In theory you trade him knowing a two year rebuild is staring you dead in the face.
This isn’t the draft to have multiple first and second round picks. Seems like an underwhelming class.
They are talking trading him to pay Tee. That’s the story. Tee likely is ready to leave after this season. Even if they do make a late push. Treys a fine trade chip. The defense can’t get worse. Maybe they can flip the picks from a trade for proven players. They need the cap for Chase and a 2020/2021 offseason.

Having only 1 year left on his contract likely hurts his value.

Trey is one of the premiere pass rushers in the NFL and a great dude. How many people have "demanded" as raise/trade, the Team said "No", and they OK and showed up to work the next day to voluntary stuff?
I'd part with every starter on O except Mims, Chase, and Joe before I'd entertain trading TH

I think we could have gotten more for tee h. He is not coming back next year. We will get nothing for him. What a waist of talent
