Joe Burrow puts team on notice

Just too much history of letting our best IOL walk and not consistently emphasizing the position group in the draft (though more the former than the latter).  They seem to think (like Troy Blackburn seems to feel even if he denies it) you can get good quality offensive linemen at Walmart.

And then there was the narrative that for someone like Burrow you only need a mediocre line.  And you would have to say there is a truth to that given his performance.

But at what cost?  When is going to take a career ending hit?  And what does he have to do to get his job done now?   And what would happen to our offense if we had a complete and high quality offensive line.

Someone mentioned that Mahomes is having the same situation.   But does that mean what both of these excellent QBs have enough?   Mahomes doesn't have tackles.  Burrow doesn't have a good interior.  They both could use better.  They're both running for their lives.   None of the super bowl contenders have that problem.

Finally, I'm not sure where I am on the Zach situation.  The play calling is not consistently good and sometimes is ridiculous.   If he can't take himself out of the OC position, he simply needs to go!  And I don't know what to do with Lou.   I mean he has an inferior IDL (Jenkins looked pretty good before he got hurt) and an inferior secondary.   If he pulls up his safeties they're going to get beat deep.   But to me, the bend don't break defense doesn't work well enough to keep it.   I want an aggressive and savvy DC.

If we're going to keep Zach, I feel the coordinators need to be gone.

I was marveling at the Lions OL.
We COULD HAVE a line like that.
If Ragnow was our guy, could we have traded up for him?
Zeitler could have been here the whole time.
Sewell is what was expected.

Glasgow is mediocre.
Skipper was undrafted, and is a journeyman. His grades reflect this, but somehow the Lions are making it work.
Great coaching?

It seems to me that if we are going to embrace the small market family operation, then the following are bloody no-brainers
A) Robust and excellent scouting
B) Excellent coaching
C) Focus on the fundamental building blocks of a team:
The goddamn lines!!!!
Go Benton Panthers!!

This to me is our #1 without question downfall. Both our lines are shit on a stick save a handful of guys.

I see flags thrown for other QBs when anyone gets even close to them. Yet game after game after game Burrow is hit late repeatedly, hit in the heat repeatedly. and hit low repeatedly with never anything done about it. Last nights facemask was as egregious as it gets and yet somehow NO ONE saw it.

If the NFL isn't going to do a ***** thing then his ***** teammates need to step up.

Teammates & coaches.

Taylor needs to throw a meltdown on tape, pay the upcoming fine and then reap the benefits of throwing that fit.

Without Joe we are toast. Somebody needs to act like it. Not just talk about it.

Therein lies the problem. Besides costs, the family operation not only wanting to, but trusting their delegation of responsibilities. I've always been the head chef so it's really hard to watch another chef make my recipes.Happens a lot with top guys wearing multiple hats.
