Also, if he's there in the 2nd round, I'd like to see Harold Fannin stay in-state, so that we can have a GREAT receiving option after Gesicki does leave. All will potentially be out for the start of the season too, so it would be nice to have fresh legs in that can block (not as well as All, but good enough), since only Sample can really do it (and Grandy may not be back, nor would I bring him back lol).
What looked to be either the biggest or second biggest hole on the team, can possibly be the 2nd strongest after the draft next year: amazing how things can turn around when you get guys that fit the system.
I haven't watched much MAC all-22 yet and Fannin is definitely on my list.... Dane Brugler says he runs like a duck so that should be fun lolol.

He didn't do too much against my Redhawks, 8 rec for only 47 yards and 0 TDs
But aside from that, he's been great this season at 100 receptions for 1342 yards and 9 receiving TDs.
A team will just have to accept a smaller TE (6'3", 230 lbs).
I'm not sure Bengals would be one of those teams.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

While that feels not that long ago, that was 9 seasons ago.
Gesicki is well on his way to passing 500 yards and could potentially pass 600 by season's end.
He's been a solid FA signing, especially for the price.
Nice, I really like Gesicki. Going to have to bring him back especially with Tee most likely leaving as he is pretty much a WR and not a TE.

I know it was a different era, but Tony McGee is arguably the 2nd best TE we've ever had and he was 6'3, 240 and a decent blocker. We did have Irv Smith as well last year, who's even smaller than that! lol.
And yeah, I think the Miami game was his least-productive game of the year, but I've been watching him ball out for the last 3 years and he's been excellent every game almost, coming up with a key play or key block.
If he fell to the 3rd, I'd run to the podium, but if he's available in the 2nd and he's BPA, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Well I thought it was likely before Tee firing his agent and Joe being so adamant about bringing him back. We will see.

After Gesicki's good game against DEN, he's now at 597 yards with 1 game left to go.
He needs just 19 yards to surpass Eifert's 2015 to have the most receiving yards by a Bengals TE in the past decade.
Gesicki is 12th among TEs in receiving yards.
(Related note - LV really hit on Brock Bowers. Dude leads all TEs in receiving yards at 1144 and 6th most when including all positions).

2nd in receptions as a rookie on a bad team with several bad QB’s is crazy.

As I said after folks were ready to move on from him after one game: "I'm willing to give him a little longer", but I do love me some Tyler Warren.

Final stat line of the regular season:
65 receptions
665 yards
2 TDs
Gesicki officially passed Eifert for the most receiving yards by a Bengals TE in the past decade, and the most since Gresham's 737 in 2012.
In fact, Gesicki 2024 and Gresham 2012 are the only TEs to get 650+ in a season for Bengals since Tony McGee got 754 in 1995.
Gesicki has jumped up to 9th among TEs in receiving yards this year, but guys like LaPorta, Ertz, Otton, and Pitts still have 1 game left to pass him.
Gesicki - 665
LaPorta - 663
Ertz - 610
Otton - 600
Pitts - 587
All these guys are within 100 yards of Gesicki, but only LaPorta is probably a shoe-in to leap Gesicki.
Ertz has to get 56+ yards
Otton 66+ yards
Pitts 79+ yards
Gesicki will likely end up Top 12 in receiving yards, likely 10th or 11th after today's games.
If Gesicki would be willing to come back on a 1-year or 2-year deal for something that doesn't break the bank, I'd like to see him back.
And for those wondering who would replace Boyd adequately as 3rd option in the offense, Gesicki is essentially the same production as Boyd's 2023:
Boyd - 67 receptions, 667 yards, 2 TDs
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season

Boyd was dealing with a compromised burrow and Jake browning. Lets get real

Last night Joe said he has never had a tight end that can do the things Mike can and he absolutely wants him back next year. If he is smart, for his career, he stays. Neither Uzomah nor Hurst did anything after they left
All hopes turn to next year

The thing with Mike Gesicki is the league already knows who he is compared to Hurst and Uzomah. He might be alot easier to bring back than those two.

Well there are always underlying reasons that go deeper than the stats. Like Gesicki being forgotten about in the offense at times. But I would say you could point to him being atleast a decent replacement to Boyd by the fact that he always seemed to step up when Higgins was out. That's also year 1 of being in the offense.

Gesicki made 2.5 million in base salary and then 3 different incentives for 375K, so he made almost 3 million. I can see the Bengals offering him a similar deal in 2025, maybe 3 million with another 500K in incentives.

I would like him back.
2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.

I don't think the 30 year mark is that bad for tight ends but it is a factor. I do think the real replacement for Boyd is the committee of guys we used. I personally want Gesicki back but he is down the list and with all our other holes would certainly understand if he ends up being a casualty of trying to fill the roster.

Just going off my head here, but I think it was a 2 game stretch we didn't even look at Gesicki. A couple more that he had 1 or 2 passes come his way.

It's a really bad TE FA class.
I know Gesicki isn't really a TE, but I don't think $675k is the cost difference between him in FA coming off 244 yards and him in FA coming off 665 yards.
Drew Sample's contract averages $3.5m/yr. Even if he gets the $500k in incentives there, that would still put Gesicki outside of the top-30 TEs.
(You also might want to check what link you put in your post. Lol)

Yup, 2 game stretch (both Ws) where he had 1 catch on 1 target for 2 yards. 4 games this year where he had 2 or less yards.
