DC/OL wish list

I see lots of fan speculation. Of course, Bengals FO is always tight lipped, so those who say they know any plan to replace coaches needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

We will know the actual plan when the new hires are announced.

2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.

Suppose I asked the folks complaining about the possible Golden hire. If they would have preferred Golden over Lou at the end of the season, what do you think they would say?

Zim had me at hello.

Hopefully Zac return his text and at least pick his mind.

I’d still prefer to let Zim ride off into the sunset of the jungle. He’d need a veteran D to have a quick turnaround. And would bring back Guenther. I’m not feeling nostalgic enough for the a rerun of the greatest hits.

But it was good to hear from him.

I’d find it highly unlikely Zim makes a return and I certainly hope not. Time passing and all that.

Oh yeah, he wants the job. He wouldn't have contacted Zac if he didn't.

I think maybe people are making too much of the time passing and the game passing him by stuff. It's not like he's been away from football since he was here. I tell you one thing, he would make Pratt start tackling instead of just ripping at the ball. (nothing wrong with ripping at the ball as long as the tackle is secured) I'm warming up to the idea. With our mostly young defense, maybe he can regenerate the Fisher-Price package.

dallas did not have a good defense under zimmer..Minnesota let Zimmer go ...retreaded tires while cheap may not be very good

I would love to have Zim back perhaps as a Quality Control Coach/Assistant Head Coach, but I'm kinda meh on him returning as DC.

I'd like to see him have a role, perhaps as an advisor and taking the lead on defensive scouting?

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Well it sure worked out for Chargers, Minter was DC of Michigan and did a great job this year for Chargers...  Golden has done a great job at ND , was a solid LB coach here and has tons of experience... he is totally qualified to coach DC in the NFL

According to Drae Harris, to be precise.

Guess I'll see how Golden's unit does on Monday Night against OSU. LOL
Everything in this post is my fault.

Yeah all I ask for is the DC gets them to tackle, we would be in the playoffs if not for that simple fact.

So down to the two worst candidates. Zero successful NFL DC experience. Probably someone with an actual successful track record in the NFL was out of their preferred price range. Leave it to the Bengals...

How about gang tackling, hardly ever see more than 1 player trying to make a tackle.  Good defenses gang tackle and limit yards after contact.

Yeah, I bet the Buckeyes put up 35+ on the Irish. I like Golden better than Graham but what is up with not taking the proven DC in Eberflus?

Golden Graham, makes me want a Smore. Whatever

- Are interviews still ongoing?
- Is it possible ownership won't pay the salary a leading candidate is expecting? Will we see a Mike Brown is cheap narrative emerge?
- Is it possible Zac wants to interview a coach who is still actively coaching for a playoff team?

Who Dey I'm a fan, so naturally I can't wait to see who Zac hires.

Yes, but it's a CFP coach.  Wink

I hope not. These two would be disappointing picks. There are better out there, why would we settle for this? Oh shit.... Nevermind, we're the Bengals. That's why.
