Dalton Risner FA
#1
Malik Wright wants us to go after Risner. He had a 67 PFF this year and a 57 in run blocking he's as bad as what we already have. Thoughts?

I liked Risner for us years ago, but those ratings are pretty bad. Give me James Daniels or Trey Smith in FA.

Just like Nate said, I liked Risner better a few years ago. If the team makes a move for a free agent Guard, I hope they shoot for the moon and go after Trey Smith. Then, when Joe needs a yard and a half on a QB sneak, it'll be there.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

They haven't even interviewed a potential OL coach yet. They better get this train a rollin' because free agency is 6 weeks away.

I don't disagree but I think they'll go after a pass rusher and then sign a couple mid tier OG's.  Teven Jenkins   James Daniels and Will Fries should all be in their range.

That sure would make me much happier if Golden is our next DC....

The ND offensive line has been decimated with injuries, just had 2 more against Penn State. The OL coach has developed players, and they are the championship game. Ohio State will likely expose them Monday, they have exposed very good heathy OL like Texas.

I have to say as a fan, their OL coach gets an A+. Can he apply it in the NFL?

2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.

Sure would give him a shot at it. So many great OL have came out of ND in the last 10 years or so. I dare say more than any other college team.

He'll be 30 for 2025. Risner would be a band-aid, not a solution, and not even a brand-name one but a generic one that doesn't stick but somehow still leaves behind a weird residue on your skin.

Better than Volson or Cappa, but not enough, and not for long.

OL coach at ND is Joe Rudolf. He has only been there 2 years. He was a pro OL and has a mixture of college and pro experience. Maybe Bengals re waiting to interview him after NCG Monday. His resume looks pretty impressive.

Zeitler is also a free agent. How about a 3 year contract at 21 million with 10 million guaranteed. It would be a million more per year than he is making now, it would be a 3 year contract and the 10 million guaranteed would be what we would have paid Cappa next year although cutting Cappa would only save 8 million due to dead cap. I wouldnt mind bringing Zeitler back regardless of his age. The question is does Detroit let him get away before signing him to an extension?

I wouldn’t mind him as depth or as a placeholder for a top 100 draft pick. But I’m aiming for bigger fish for the IOL on day 1 and 2 of free agency, if I’m the Bengals. I doubt Philly lets Becton hit the market. Not so sure Trey Smith hits free agency either. Does Pittsburg allow Daniels to test the market? Isn’t Jenkins one of the Bears only decent offensive linemen? Do they let him test the market? If ANY of those guys do hit free agency, the Bengals need to not sit on their hands and sign the guy who best fits what the new offensive line coach wants to do ASAP.
