Add 9.5 million to our cap space in 2025.

It is nteresting they did it so early. Maybe asked to take a cut and he said no??

I believe he had a roster bonus due in a couple of weeks.

Don’t think Hubbard or Cappa have that so they’ll likely wait. If they cut (or, in Hubbard’s case, restructure) too early it may drive up demands from agents who see they have loss of cap space to spare and undermine their claims of poverty. It’s also better to negotiate from a position of strength where you’re after an upgrade rather than having nobody at that position.

Similarly with Pratt they’ll want to see if he has any trade value. Volson will be a late camp cut if a cut. With Stone they’ll likely wait until they draft or sign a FA replacement if that’s indeed the route they go down.

That might mean Moss is the next cut, but his situation is complicated by his injury status. They may need a medical to clear him before they can cut him?

I suspect Cappa won't get the axe until they have his replacement secured. And Hubbard is more likely a restructure as when healthy he is a combination EDGE/IDL which is helpful.

Agree on both points Joelist. I know Cappa was terrible last year but he has been good in the past, have to have insurance in place before we
cut Cappa. Sam has been a leader and great teammate for a while here. Give him a restructure and give him a shot as a backup End and run
stopper, he deserves this much.

Sign Gesicki, Herbert, BJ Hill and Mike Hilton and cut Zack Moss would be my next moves.

Nope, he did not have a roster bonus coming due. It was all base salaried, but not 100%  guaranteed.

Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!

Worth noting...

Cappa has a $500k roster bonus and $500k workout bonus. Roster bonuses normally are March 1st or June 1st (not sure which for Cappa). The workout bonus would be April 21st.

A roster bonus is due if a player is still on the roster at a certain date.

Roster bonuses after the first year are often not guaranteed.

Spotrac has updated to show him as having been cut but was previously showing him as having a 2025 roster bonus. Paul Dehner reported that the roster bonus was due 17th March.

Rankins signed a 1 year deal worth up to $7 million with the Texans

All hopes turn to next year
