I guess if that’s the goal, sure. But when was the last time the Steelers won a playoff game?
The 2016 season, 2017 playoffs.
Two presidential terms have passed since the Steelers won a playoff game.
The Steelers are one of 8 teams to have 0 playoff wins since the 2016 season, 2017 playoffs.
In fact, the bengals have more playoff wins (5) then the rest of the AFCN combined (4), in that same time frame.
Yes, QB matters.

If they llose all 3 I'm filing for divorce and find another crap team close to home. I guess it'll be the Panthers.. The Bengals might as well change the name of the stadium and call it "Yogi Bears was right. It's dejevu all over again Stadium" The Brown family doesn't deserve a winning team.

All of these deals are short and I'm assuming not much guaranteed money for the few that got a 3rd year.
Pair that with the fact that Cincy doesn't have much talent worthy of a long term extension in the next 2 years. Plus, we aren't big outside FA players.
They have plenty of money to give Trey a bump for 2 years, give Tee guaranteed money and Chase the top WR. It will eventually get done but they're playing the long game and we're impatient.

I think there's less cap space than you realize.

Short term yes, but long term no. A Burrow restructure and Higgins and Chase getting bigger bumps in 2 years should fix this.

I doubt Ja'Marr Chase is even negotiating right now. He is waiting to see who gets top dollar so he can get more.

Not close? Man, I don't want to go through another offseason like the last one in terms of Chase and Higgins. And I guess Trey as well, since he could well do a hold-in for the preseason. How do the Steelers sign DK Metcalf to a large extension just days after Metcalf requests a trade and the Steelers trade for him and Chase has been a year of negotiating.

Well, if they couldn't agree last year for $35 million...this year he wants $40 million.
I wonder if there's a non-zero chance they trade him?

If they do, this franchise is finished. Like permanently. They have no excuse. The money is there and it makes sense to do it now. It's made sense to do it now since "now" was a year ago. He was doing them a favor by trying to negotiate with them last year. They were too stupid to lock it in.
I see no way that Burrow wouldn't become demonstratively upset. Fans would follow, and the franchise would be shown for what it is, ie incapable of existing in the modern league. All of the credit they've built in this era would evaporate immediately.
Do I expect this? Not quite.
Have to say though, the lack of progress doesn't make me feel great.
There's a non-zero chance that we are watching the series of events that end this team's residence in Cincinnati.

What's the rule on minimum games to hold out and still count as a season, isn't it like 6 or 7? It would be radical, but based off this board and the media these 3 would have a lot of support if they sat a few games together. It would wreck our year even sitting 2 like Emmitt Smith did. I'd hate this, but it wouldn't shock me if things went this way.

It's got to be insanely frustrating trying to deal with a front office that can't get fired. Where is Hue Jackson? He'll give MB whatever he asks.

If treys camp said they could get a first rounder, I’d hold them to that.

Seems a bit risky to me to let the projections of one players agent determine the actions of an entire NFL organization. Treys value is determined by other GMs, not his camp. I mean, I know I'm a 10 but if the ladies determine I'm a 4 at best who are you going to trust?
But the bottom line is that our front office just asks for the moon because they either get the moon or they get nothing and no one holds that against them.

I found the offseason last year very pleasant..life went on ..we enjoyed our lives and friends..players like Burrow, Chase and Higgins, their children, grandchildren and great gradnchildren are are already set for life....I see this whole FA and offseason thing a little diffrent..Team was playing remarkably well last 6 games of the year..those DL rookies were playing their tails off..even murphy getting better..Even with a bandaid offensive line if you remember..offense was great....We needa guard..another D lineman and probably another 2-3 receiver.. this will be addressed juts maybe not in the time frame or way you would like it..Have fun..enjoy the reds and next year Bengals will be in the playoffs..barring major injuries

Way to go Nate - admitting you have a problem is the first step!
But who are we kidding? They will have Ford and Volson at G and Burrow will be running for his life again but as soon as they bust out their black alternate helmets we will all be right back on the wagon.

Why would the bengals trade him for anything less than a 2nd? He is going to return a 3rd round comp almost certainly. Honestly the asking price is about right.
