From what I hear a few thousand miles away CTB made it his decision to be a cb2 through his life choices and the fact that he acts like a mong off the field referring to himself as juice and having his boys deal with people who dare want to say hello. Some of these kids in the locker room need a slap and he’s target 1A from what I’ve been told.

Well, to be fair Mims was not a huge producer in College, but he had all the traits. 

Myles Murphy had 111 tackles, 37 TFL, 17.5 sacks, 5 PDs, and 6 FFs in 3 years. That's productive

Duke thinks they can’t draft a G or safety in the first two rounds that’s better than what they have?
I think they can easily find a IOL who is better and than Volson or Ford. They have some superstars on the team for sure but he’s crazy if he thinks there aren’t some very weak spots where a good rookie could come in and start.

Disagree. Mims was excellent when he was on the field. His issue was availability, not production.

Loveland is 10x the TE Sample is. 
Barron or Johnson insta,start at CB.
Emmanwori, Starks, or Watts at S. 
Zabel or Jackson at G.
Not to mention J. Campbell at LB

In fairness to Tobin who 99% of the time needs to be put int he corner with some crayons I really don’t think we are a million miles away because he’s won the lottery with Burrow.

We need another rusher whether inside or off the edge, we need better communication at LB which Golden should sort. I really don’t like the reports of Newton as slot CB as I think he’s ***** useless but you can’t have everything I’d love to bring back Mike for 1 more year.

If we don’t make at least the AFCCG this year with this offence there needs to be a boycott until Duke is gone and to a point Katie is put in another role too. A lot of people on this board will have spent thousands following this team. It’s time to shit or get off the pot the clock is ticking.

I don't think any GM should give a 17th pick in the draft or those after at 49, 81, 119, 153 and 193 the keys to the castle. It is the coach's job to create competition and decide who starts. I look at the part you ignored or brushed off above, Duke is also saying to these draft picks be ready to work and earn it, we are not giving you 3 years to figure it out.

For those concerned about the guards we have under contract. The biggest guaranteed portion is Ford, only 1 million. Then Patrick only 200K, then Volson onlu 164K, Kirkland is zero is every other guard.

These guys are all under immense pressure to have a great training camp, otherwise Bengals could cut them with no penalty prior to final roster right before the season starts.

They get injured, likely cut.
They miss blocks, they get cut.

Money and a job is a great motivator, these guys get cut from a bad OL group like the Bengals, there is no giarantees they ever see their 1 million contract in 2025 or ever.

Newton probably fits what Golden wants and he’s not a dumb coach. He understands what he wants and picked Fig for a reason

What has me concerned is...does that mean Josh Newton has leapfrogged one of Dax Hill, DJ Turner, or CTB on the depth chart such that one of them will be relegated to the bench?

I don't know if Newton really played well enough to do that, personally.

About the only CB who I thought looked "poor" was CTB. He reminded me last year of Dre Kirkpatrick, inconsistent and letting some pretty big plays happen.

Dax Hill might still be a question mark headed into the season with his ACL and might be a guy they work in instead of an instant game 1 snap 1 starter.
