We got a good player and that's s big part of the evaluation.
But the opportunity cost for making this pick was absolutely massive.
They passed on getting a day 1 high quality starting guard to take a LB, a position that they needed but not desperately so, that is 25 years old who had a late breakout after transferring schools and apparently was not that great in pass coverage.
I hope he works out and is a pro bowl LB for the 4 years he is here before we elect not to resign him because we don't prioritize free agents entering their age 30 season.
I think the team had a plan, 1st 2picks to the D, with Golden getting massive say in who he wanted. He seems to have a plan in mind.
TBS, I get the frustration with apparent lack of value, but we weren’t going strictly BPA the initial rounds this year. Philosophically I am BPA all the way, but that presupposes a robust scouting apparatus, which we DONT possess.
Maybe this approach (targeting needs) is best for this team given its limitations. It’s frustrating when the limitations are self-inflicted.

You are making an assumption the team reached and did not get value. It seems the FO and defensive coach had these guys targeted from the get go and are thrilled.
They feel they hit need plus BPA for their football team.
They did not pick one guy I had targeted or the 100's of mocks I did, but I know they are smarter than me as I have limited exposure to the draftees, I never studied them and only watched them sparingly, not even focusing on just them.
Too many fans form uneducated opinions and then choose to die on the hill as they use the opinions (rankings) of others.
Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!
I like the pick. I don’t care he’s 25. He’s played a lot of football and the tape on the guy is solid. Maybe he plays so well that he forces us to reconsider our stance on signing guys that are 30+. Guy could be a future team captain with his intangibles and locker room presence carried over from college for all we know. I like that he’s a father of two, he has family that depends on him and a legacy to build. I would think he’s a bit more mature *upstairs* than most rookies coming into the league, with hopefully a bigger focus on football, family, and legacy than going out and partying, racing cars on freeways and city streets, or blowing all his dough at the casinos.
LB wasn’t a huge need, and I’m a bit salty we didn’t go G here (or Watts at FS), but we got a good LB here. My question is, is he Golden’s “Viper”? Will Al even employ that role? Or does adding this guy move someone else, currently on the roster, into that role? Is he a MLB or a ROLB? Logan has played well at both MLB and ROLB, WHO plays WHERE in Al’s defense?

Sure, we’re not experts, but recent track record is spotty at best.
The fear is we’ve drafted Murphy 2.0, and a defensive version of Sample.
The notion that we shouldn’t spout our uneducated opinions on here is ridiculous, because that’s exactly why we’re here.
BTW I DID enjoy the call video immensely, and I think his heart will be in it. Definitely a guy I can root for!
