Rank Our DTs (2025)
#21
I voted 20-25; BJ Hill (while a solid player) can't be the best DT in the room. Jenkins and Jackson are both going to have to step up if this unit is going to improve dramatically.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

Would like to mention that McKinnley Jackson had an 81.7 PFF grade(8th) and 85 run grade(2nd) in the last 4 games of the season.

I was impressed with his explosion off the line last season in particular against the Giants and Titans.

McKinnley Jackson has a really nice first step it's just everything after that is the issue. That first step is negated alot too because he lines a yard deep to give himself time to diagnose the blocking scheme in front of him. Vision/play recognition was some of the issues he had in college too.

I remember comping him to Pat Sims in like December 2023 during the draft process and nothing has changed.

Didn't Brandon Thompson have a similar problem? Awesome first step but couldn't fine the ball?

I’m concerned about the pass rush but also feel like we may be writing off Chris Jenkins too early ? Jenkins had 3 sacks as a rookie which is the most any Bengals rookie DT has had since Geno Atkins who also had 3. Not saying Jenkins will be anywhere close to Atkins just think it’s interesting we don’t view Jenkins in a positive way. Jenkins wasn’t know as a rusher in college which I get but maybe he was asked to do different things. Interestingly enough Jenkins had 4.5 college sacks the same as Shemar Stewart. I know the debate with Stewart was traits vs. production and some scouts think if you’re used differently you could be a better rusher in the NFL , could the same be said for Jenkins ? Or maybe are scouts just suck lol.
