I do believe that somewhat plays into it, as they will sometimes allow a free rusher when the defense blitzes to get that extra guy in the pattern and trust Joe to get it out quick.

But there's other issues, unfortunately.  I don't think I've seen Volson pick up a stunt in his three years as a starter.  He's just oblivious when he's out there.  Cappa got absolutely destroyed on a number of reps last year.  Jonah would have similar things happen to him against guys like Watt and Garrett. Lots of relatively poor athletes for their positions just getting the brakes beaten off of them by much better talent across from them.  

The former is a risk vs reward trade off and an informed decision.  The latter is just lack of talent.

They will likely have 3 new opening day starters this year vs last year.  

Pollack's philosophy just didn't work, especially for our offense.  His "glass eaters" BS was outdated, and we tried for years to make it work with physically overmatched players that had "grit" and "want to".  It was especially mismatched with an offense that wanted to run a lot of wide zone, which requires more athletic linemen capable of making reach blocks and second level blocks.

Would I of liked for them to do more in the Offseason to invest in the OL? Of course, but a new OL coach could certainly help as Pollack 
couldn't coach anyone up and even proven FA's regressed under his coaching. Lucas Patrick and Dylan Fairchild have been known to be 
good pass protectors and are much more athletic than what we had last year and stay lower in their sets.

We will see how much better the OL is this year. I expect it to be better, I just don't know how much better.

Who's job was it to get the right players in to fit the scheme? That's on Tobin.
