Alright, in that case I definitely apologize to Leonard Leap. Yes, Knight does have some chronological pressure to perform from day 1.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

The Bengals FO done an unfair thing to Shemar, they need to have his contract like the other players picked right around him.
TLL shown in the Shemar thread it is the Bengals screwing him over in his contract. I don't like how Shemar talked about it, but he is actually
right after hearing all the details.

Stewart is heading into his age 22 season.
Knight is heading into his age 25 season.
If they theoretically both threaten to sit out a year...
Stewart would be a 23-year-old rookie (4 year contract) and 27-year-old 1st time FA (28 if someone used a 1st on him again and picked up his 1st year option).
Knight would be a 26-year-old rookie (4 year contract) and 30-year-old 1st time FA.
And lets be honest, someone might still use a 2nd on Stewart if he goes back into the draft because of his sheer athletic measurables. Nobody is using a 2nd or 3rd (or probably even a 4th or 5th) on a 26-year-old rookie LB.

I agree with your age rationale; however, I feel Knight has leverage because of position/need.
He was drafted to replace Pratt and possibly play the Viper role for Golden. Unless Burks showed enough in the SATR role in Philly to be the Viper here. Irrespective of Burks signing, it is not out of realm of possibility that Knight starts Day 1.
Shemar, on the other hand, I feel was a BPA pick in round one. Unless he shows something unexpected in camp, I doubt he starts over Murphy or Ossai.

I feel the same way brother. Knight or Burks will be the starters next to Logan and Golden wanted Knight BAD.
We will see how it shakes out. I like both better than what we saw from Pratt the last couple of years honestly.

One other incentive for Knight to sign and fully participate in preseason is the NFL performance-based compensation. If he starts and does well, he could be in for a significant extra income from that source. Look at the Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood. He just received a distribution of over 1 million from the league's performance-based pay program and more than doubled his salary. Cordall Volson always seems to get a high amount each year -- around $900,000 extra for the 2024 season.

Bengals have an opportunity here. They could mess with other teams by going ahead and fully guaranteeing DK's contract.
Not to mention it would help avoid grouping them with other teams who are more and more being accused of collusion.

The 49ers #2 pick, at 43rd, signed tonite. He received $9 million guaranteed or 87% of his salary. Last year apt he same oick was guaranteed 78% of his salary. Knight was pick 49
It's next season and I'm hopeful

Well at least we have a ceiling now for Knight. Hopefully they give him 70% guaranteed max and call it a day before camp for rookies begins. The other 2 drafted I think got 100% but pick 33 and 34.

I don't see how he will be willing to settle for anything less than 78-87%.

Yeah I think this gets done fairly quickly now, I really see him signing at that 80% guaranteed mark, which I think is fair for both sides.

Sounds good to me, get Knight done and look to Stewart next. I like Knight a lot, you can tell he is all about the team. I cannot say the same
for Stewart until he is practicing with the team. Knight as I said takes great angles against the run and wraps up, should be refreshing compared
to that stuff we watched last year where Pratt missed the angle or just grabbed the RB's upper body holding him up ripping at the ball stuff.

You may be correct, but our pisk is behind this pick. I am not sure what pick 49got in guarantees last year.
That will be the floor and the ceiling is less than the 87% so yeah probably closer to 80% floor and not 70 as I said earlier

Pick 49 was Kris Jenkins: 4 year, $7.86M contract, including $2,54M signing bonus, $5.48M guaranteed (70%)
