Right. I get that. But if not winning a championship makes playoff wins moot, wouldn't it also make a winning regular season moot?

Yup, if you don't win the Super Bowl you may as well go 0-16. Nah, I kid. You'd think Bengals fans of all people would realize a season that isn't over by week 3 is better than one that is.

Not only that but Shakes logic is contradictory. You have to win enough games DURING the season to MAKE the playoffs. Only 12 teams a year get that chance. You can't go one and done or win a championship UNLESS you MAKE the playoffs.
My opinion is until they can start breaking .500 with big stage season games, a championship is pretty much out of reach.

I do have to say that the Bengals haven't been good enough in "big games" to give impartial observers a reason to believe they can rattle off the 3 big-game streak it takes to hoist the Lombardi. I honestly figured the Bengals were going to get the Jets at home in the playoffs, Fitzmagic would meltdown and throw 4 picks and the Bengals would win their first playoff game in 25 years by a sort of default.
Twas not the case.

Godell has prevented the Bengals from winning it all since he was 9 years old? Impressive.

I guess as long as we don't win the Super Bowl, it's okay to go 0-7 in the playoffs.

I really hope Marvin gets to go out on top with a super bowl win,but even if he never does he'll still have my respect as the coach who turned the team around. He'll always deserve some of his criticism and won't deserve most of it All in all I'll always be glad he's been with the team.

To put the discussion about this relentless back and forth about Lewis being fired to bed for good, standing on the fact that he will leave when he retires or Brown drops dead, is that fact that he wasn't fired after the 4-12 2010 season!! Think about it!!

As much as you hope this year is going to be different....it won't.
You know, i get you but players can carry coaches at times.

even if i am a fool i would rather be one than someone that is right about our

I have my doubts because he's going to have to go from winless in the playoffs to winning the Super Bowl, to satisfy me.
This team is talented enough and experienced enough to win it ALL. Not beat a wild card team in a playoff game only.

Suffice it to say that if we do happen to win a super bowl with Lewis there will be more than a few people saying, "It's about time and he only won one." Which by the way will never be enough.

2. Dude's hit his ceiling. He was good for rebuilding a team and getting them to win games, but he's never been good when the pressure is on and he can't prepare his teams for it. Prime time/playoff games have always been something his teams have rarely won, regardless of the players involved or the level of competition in the game. He's had at least like 3-4 distinctly different teams now as a Bengals HC and they all look the same in those moments.
Common thread between them? Him.

Side note: Yeah, Sunset is right. With the talent the team has had last year and this year, a single playoff win is a failure. That was the goal back when Dalton was a rookie/2nd year player and this team was all young and such. The window will probably never be open more than he's had lately, so yeah, SB appearance is pretty much the only acceptable goal right now.
I the 7 playoff games lewis has been here.. He has yet to play a down... Players must preform the way they do all season come playoff time too... Last 2 years have sucked... 2014 we had Dalton but nothing else.. .2015 we had everything but Dalton.
will 2016 be the year they come together.

If odds eventually win out wouldn't the Browns be a powerhouse team by now?
Its ok you keep a positive approach, I give ya credit for it. I on the other hand have the approach that if I touch a hot stove seven time and it burns me, chances are Im going to get burnt again if I touch it.

If odds were bound to win out, then 34 of the 50 Super Bowls wouldn't belong to only 8 franchises.
In fact, 9 franchises have been in the NFL since the Super Bowl started and have never won a title.
