See, some might wonder why my mind wanders to these old country songs, in a thread about Mike Brown being a poor football team owner.  But the fact of the matter is, being a fan of the Bengals under his tenure is much like the misery described in many of these old country music songs.

Mike's winning percentage was 28% prior to Marvin.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

I wasn't surprised by any of those statistics. The Bengals were a complete and utter joke prior to Marvin and seemed to be heading in that direction again.

Best thread I've read in awhile. I'm not even a big country fan, but these are some all-time great tunes.

All my exes live in Texas.

And so does the team that beat Marvin in the playoffs twice.

The Steelers?

(I know, the Texans. I just find it even more sad that 2 teams have beaten Marvin twice in the playoffs)

Not a stat, but told everyone Sam Wyche resigned when the reality was, he fired him.  This was his first act as "GM".

7 winning seasons in 26 years

Roughly a .418 winning % (actually dramatically improved under Merv, or it's probably in the 30s, Merv has a .543 %)

In 2008, the Bengals set a record for the most games needed under one specific owner to attain 100 wins (288).

In 2010, the team set a record for the fewest games needed to lose 200 (both considering and not considering playoffs) under one specific owner (314).

It is the only team with three nine-game-or-more losing streaks during his tenure.

Also holds six of the twenty-five 0-6 starts (24%)

Four of the thirteen 0-8 starts (31%)

Bengals have gone winless in October nine different times in twenty-two years under five different head coaches

0-7 in playoffs

The second lowest winning % in a decade in all of professional sports history. (were #1 until Detroit went 0-16 in their abyss)

Plus this:

1970 - 1990  PB

Bengals vs Steelers
W    L
21   20   (14 of these losses came in the 1970s when Steelers were at the top of their game)

1991 - 2017  MB
Bengals vs Steelers
W    L
13   40

We're stuck in Cincinnati, and time keeps dragging on
As those losses keep compiling, all my hopes are gone

Well when I was just a baby my mama told me son
If you root for Cincinnati our relationship is done
Then Burfict tackled Bell,  just to watch him die
When I see them flags a flyin' I hang my head and I cry

Well I'll bet rich Mikies eatin' in some fancy dining car
Probably counting all his money and smokin' big cigars
Well I know I had it comin' I know I can't be free
That bastard keeps a breathing' that's what tortures me

How sad is it that we've hyped up beating the Steelers to some Super Bowl like level of achievement?

I mean, the Bears beat them this year! The Bears!
