Burrow can only be spoken about in the present and what he is doing is absolutely amazing based on the OL he was given, with zero real training camp, a horrific defense that creates pressure to score on every possession, no pre-season games, NO deep threat on this team, an uncanny ability to survey the field and the amount of 300 yard (400 yard ? ) games he's had all in less than half a season.
Virtually no running game either (except against JAX).

Ken Anderson led the league in passer rating 4 times and won an MVP. He held the NFL single season completion percentage record for over 20 years.
Joe Burrow is currently 24th in the league in passer rating. He might some day be as good as Anderson, but it is ridiculous to rank him higher than that right now.
Burrows arm is not that strong and he is not especially fast or elusive. I will not criticize his mental acuity, but at the same time I have not seen anything really amazing that makes him look smarter than prior Bengal QBs. He holds onto the ball too long and he has made some stupid passes.
Just to repeat. I am not bashing Joe in any way.
He’s a rookie making correct reads fairly often. When they win(1 game) he is largely responsible and when they lose he isn’t the cause. He is accurate, throwing for yardage and still a rookie.
He ranks 3rd in passing yards.
He has a completion percentage better than Aaron Rodgers.
He is tied for Number 1 as the most sacked QB in the league.
He has thrown 5 INTS, one more than Big Ben.
He’s doing great.

I've seen post claiming the kid is the best QB the franchise has ever had...
After 7 games, he looks good, but can we wait till the season is over or maybe until the team is over .500 before we start building statues?
I'll check back with you when he sets the rookie record for passing yards with a JV coaching staff and players around him. Other than his receivers

No issues with Wade, but I don't want that ahole Dorsey anywhere near this team as a GM.
He's burned bridges with 2 teams and he doesn't seem to be a great GM, in terms of handling personnel duties.
If he could be hired as a consultant or a draft specialist or some crap, sure. But I find it funny that despite gaining great assets for 2 teams, nobody is jumping up to hire him, nor are there good things said about him.

He can be assistant to the regional manager for all I care. Lol
I just want the guy that helped build that KC team in our FO.

Freaking absolutely. To go from a team with no GM in their history to one who built the best team the past year or two and still going strong for years to come, count me in.

Check back when the team is over .500
All the stats in the world mean nothing when the team is still losing....
Your mentality pleases Mike Brown. Be content with the stats and shiny new toy, while the team is still a dumpster fire...

No need to.
This is my issue with the pick.
Everyone is all yay!!! Look at Joe, he is so great. Cool, he is playing well but this doesn't fix the team.
I'm a Bengal fan, I cheer for the team, not the individual player. 80% of this board is just all rah rah rah... Joe is the greatest. Yet, the team still sucks and drafting him fixed nothing.
People's argument for not trading the pick was you can't find a player like Burrow in just every draft... really? Mahomes wasn't a 1st, Ravens jumped into the end of round 1 to get Jackson, Herbert, same draft later pick and he looks like a guy that can win. A-Aron was a late round 1 pick, Brees, Big Ben, etc, etc, etc...
I want the team to succeed, and for that to happen, things have to change, but Mike won't change unless he is forced. Instead he gets handed Burrow, that now has everyone convinced we are a coach or a player away from being good.. wrong... not just wrong... stupid.
This team still can't cover a TE, still struggles to stop the run, still can't get pressure on the QB, still has massive holes on the O-line. One draft, one off-season is not going to make this team good. So, that means you waste 2 years of the rookie deal for your QB while building a team around him and pray he doesn't get hurt or just get completely burned out.
So, excuse me for not celebrating more years of Mike Brown hiding behind a shiny new toy that doesn't equal a change in the Bengals culture at all.
Is Burrow good, yes. Is he good for the Bengals or are the Bengals good for him... I would say no.
Yes I realize that it is an unpopular opinion, but I'd like to see this team win a damn playoff game in my lifetime, not have a QB that sets the yardage and attempts records while winning 2 games... the only stat that matters in the NFL... wins.

Cool. Start your own thread with this topic that is a waste of time at this point. Your points are invalid to this thread.

this is the dumbest take I have ever seen on here.
The QB has the most direct impact on winning games in the NFL - this is irrefutable.
You wanted the 2019 Bengals team to turn into winners by what? Trading back, picking up a another pick, missing on the Qb1 of the draft, and...let me guess, brining back andy dalton.
What a hilarious post. You expected them to be the worst team in the league, to the a winner based off of one draft. LOLOLOLO

Are you blaming Joe Burrow for the Bengals' 1-5-1 record?

I liked his play for the most part last game though , I like his game at times . But heres where I'm critical, theres other good QBs in the league that look fast and with cannons. Mahomes ,jackson even kyler Murray. Baker Mayfield was looking just as good as burrow throwing lasers to guys. In college burrow looked more like mahomes and Wentz or wilson, alluding rushers and making plays after evading them. I've seen him not be able to do that on the nfl level. He still gots it in his head that he can that's why you see strip sacks. But then again he does have nice pocket movement and will stand in there and deliver when the hit is coming. He does things dalton doesnt. But then again I think dalton actually threw short and intermediate throws faster then burrow.
I think I was wrong about him coming in here and being so good we would go to the playoffs. And I hope he keeps improving, I like that he yelled at a o lineman something dalton would never do either. Hope he doesnt have a sophomore slump and actually looks even better next year and we start winning games.
Somehow you've missed the multiple times this year that he's moved and escaped the pocket to run or complete a pass.
Maybe it's because he's had to do it so much and you're only remembering the bad ones?

So you can't be happy with the QB and how he's played and still realize the team has a ways to go to get better?

There is indeed lots to like about Joe Burrow. However, a 1-5-1 record doesn't lie. I'm not putting these losses on Joe Burrow but I believe this record proves the Bengals need far more than a new quarterback to get back to the playoffs. Furthermore, I don't think the Front Office realizes this.

No, No I am not. But, having him here makes the path to winning easier.
Are you actually going to disagree with me?
Name a team without a top tier QB who has won anything in the NFL not names Trent Dilfer, Brad JOhnson, or Nick Foles.

I just checked your threads
You wanted the Bengals to bring in a 'Bridge QB' like Marcus Mariotta/Jamis Winston for 2020, and draft Chase YOung 1 overall. LOL
Yeah, those 2 sacks and missed games w injury would have really put the bengals on a path to the superbowl.
Then, you also posted that Burrow will win multiple superbowls (With the saints). Lololo

That’s right. I DID want a “bridge” quarterback and to draft Chase Young.
However, the Bengals drafted Joe Burrow and I’m behind him 100%. The draft is long gone.
I still stand by my assertion that if the Bengals do not improve and win Joe Burrow’s agent will find another team for him after his rookie contract ends.
