***Official Bengals Free Agency Thread***

Nope, but it's a silly comment about a team that just cut their 2 starting tackles.
(03-15-2021, 08:05 PM)George Cantstandya Wrote: That is the point.  Maybe those good players don't want to be in Cinci.  Maybe they would rather be on teams that have a better reputation of winning even if it means not taking top dollar.  At some point when someone makes enough to support themselves for life, and their kids, an their grandchildren and they have spent the majority of their life training to get where they are top dollar does not always matter.

I'm kind of repeating this but the Bengals are probably not on the top of the list for free agents.  This team has been bad and currently has a head coach that a lot think is over his head.  The Bengals are just not a destination team.  It sucks as a fan to think no top player really wants to play for the Bengals unless they get over paid.  But I guess that is what it is.

We just saw actual good players choose to come here last year (Reader, Bell, Waynes, Alexander). Saying “maybe no one wants to come here” is a cop out.

The Chargers have a reputation almost as bad as the Bengals, yet they just managed to sign a top player to protect their franchise QB.

couldn't get the other holes filled. Both sides of the Line need filled with top tier players. We can still do this, we wouldn't of
been able to if we signed Thuney for that much.

Man, if I'm Joe Thuney and I have a chance to choose between Reid and Mahomes or a coach that's won 6 games in 2 years and a QB coming off major knee surgery...
Tyler Dragon saying we also low balled Kevin Zeitler
Who Dey!!!

Not silly at all. They obviously know more about their own players than anyone on the outside does. I don’t really blame them for wanting more reliable options than two guys in their 30’s coming off an Achilles and a season ending back injury.

Then they signed a Guard for 16 mil a year....

We will see how this works out. I saw those backup OT's in the Super Bowl...

Did you?

You mean their 2 OT's that are/were injured and didn't play in the Superbowl? Yes, they cut-bait with two injured players, maybe their front office didn't like their players prognosis? BTW can you cut injured players? Injury settlements maybe?
Anyway, yes I saw those backup lineman "play" in the SuperBowl. That line reminded me a lot of our STARTING oline.

Yeah we need to get on the ball with some of these players!

Still, his family is in Ohio and Burrow has great upside, but go Chiefs if they want to pay you THAT kind of money easily.

okey dokey
The Chiefs lost the Super Bowl because they couldn’t protect Mahomes. They wanted a sure thing and went to get it. His cap hit is only 4.5 mil. So they can still be active in FA. Bengals never had a chance.

You betting we are not going to address our OL?

Nah, we’ll sign some bargain bin players like XSF.

The Bengals tried bringing back Zeitler but their offer wasn’t near what the Ravens offered him.

Fair enough, we don't know how bad Fisher and Schwartz are off and they know better.

FA isn't over yet, hell, it hasn't even started. All I know is I wanted more in FA than just Thuney.

I'm just saying it would be very hard to turn down the chance to play for the Chiefs and get paid a shitload of money while you're doing it. Big Grin

You mean Spain, I believe XSF is still signed.

Bring back Spain, bring in Reiff, Gabe Jackson, Sheldon Rankins, Derek Wolfe and Roby.

I mean XSF caliber players.

That was their “big move” for the OL last year after all.
