I don't hate Sample. I understand his role on the team and that's primarily as a blocking TE. Given how bad the o-line was when he was drafted it made sense to try to add another option that can help block. I think a lot of people understand that as well. I do agree that it was a reach to take him in the second. But I don't know enough about the draft to predict how far he would have fallen had the Bengals not taken him so early.
