In a real world, it would be Votto and Moose long gone.
It would be typical to continue to punish players for playing well. The worst thing you can do for The Reds is play well. That is a sure way to get traded. It is huge that Drury can play many positions, and Farmer can play all positions. They are low budget players to have on the team in 2023. In a world that makes sense, Drury and Farmer would be back in 2023 and it would be Votto and Moose getting shipped out.
Kevin the best of the clown squad isn't much. Like Fred says Drury is 30 years old and a career backup. He's not going to morph at 30 into a slugger hitting 40 HR's and 120 RBI's. It's a flash in the pan. Farmer is 31 and is just a good backup, that's all. Now if they were 23 or 24 that would be different.
And nobody is going to trade for Moustakas ! He has like 17 HR's and 65 RBI's in the last 2 and 1/2 seasons with a BA of like .210. He's due 16,18, and 20 million $ over this season and next two years. You gonna pay that for a guy that struggles to stay on the field batting .210 with 10 HR's and 30 RBI's ?
The Votto thing we've been through a half dozen times. Nobody is gonna pay 25 million for his services.
