It is interesting that the FO for the Bengals can appraise established talent via FA but had difficulties evaluating and drafting successful rookies, especially later in the draft process. In addition, the Bengals have had a nightmare evaluating OL talent in the past. This raises the question regarding the size of the scouting department and who was actually evaluating the talent. I think Zac Taylor and the coaching staff are better outside of Drew S and Carman.
It illustrates that metrics and observable talent doesn't necessarily lead to a successful career in the NFL for any team draft selection. Case and point is Leatherwood.
