As far as I'm concerned, this trend of the "hold in" is a bunch of shit and sets a bad example for up and coming players, as well as makes a poor representation of what it means to be one of the best at what you do for all of the great players before him. Pouting and demanding a new deal with two seasons left on the clock is like going to dinner and asking for dessert up front.
How would that scenario fare in the real world? "Hey boss, I know that I'm not due for a raise review for quite some time, but I want it now. Until I get it, I'll just be showing up and speak encouragingly to my potential replacements.."
Everything I've read says he is being a great mentor to them on the sidelines and helping them in any way he can. I'm just not that upset about it. Like I said before, if he was refusing to play, or if I had doubts he would be ready day 1, that would be different. And I fully acknowledge he should really be doing this next year, not this year, but he wants security.
