28 vs. 29 might seem like no big deal, but the way teams handle third contracts and player age, it's not insignificant.
I don't see any WRs next year getting more money than Jefferson, CeeDee, Hill, got this off-season, so the market is pretty much set. There isn't anyone that's going to increase the market, so he wants his deal ASAP because that means he can get to his 3rd contract sooner.
Garrett Wilson can start negotiating a new contract after this year and could lift the market depending on how the cap increases. The other thing is the floor starts rising each year. As cap goes up worse players make more money. We saw it a few years ago when the Jags paid Christian Kirk a lot of money in FA. When those deals start getting close to the deals the top guys are after it pushes what they want as they don't want to be grouped with that class of player.
