Sure, it would be nice if the two sides came to an equitable agreement on a new contract. But this hold-in by Chase with two years to go on his contract is a bad look imho and something I never expected of Chase. (If anyone could be complaining about needing a new contract it would be Patrick Mahomes and there is zero complaint from him.)
Pretty sure all rookie contracts and signing bonuses are predetermined under the current CBA these days. I don’t think the team did anything with Ja’Marr’s deal that they didn’t have to.
And Mahomes literally just restructured his deal last season.
