Yes, NFL owners are well known for just suddenly giving >$10m/yr more (and $200m in guarantees) to people who don't ask for it. They see their players and go "I sure wish I could just force millions of dollars more into their hands despite them not asking for it."

I even said Mahomes handled it way better as he handled business behind closed doors. We've seen that doesn't always work with Mike Brown/the Blackburns, though.
