As understand it; if we extend Chase this off-season, then his 5th year is void. So a 4-Yr keeps him here through 2028. If we wait until we can pick up his 5th year option then a 4-Yr allows us to keep him until 2029.
What other 1st rd WR recently held out/in after year 3 of his rookie deal? I cannot remember what JJ did last pre-season.
The whole claim of give me 160 million but put part of it on my rookie contract years is just a ploy to get paid like Jefferson on the extension years but also get a huge pay raise for the 4th year on rookie contract. 160 million is still 160 million no matter how you divide up the extension. The difference is Ja'Marr would also get a huge pay increase year 4 that Jefferson didnt get. Ja'Marr is trying to double dip.
