As for Chase, sign the man, then focus on winning the division, the AFC and then the Super Bowl. Come on FO and Chase, compromise and make it happen.
I think it has it's good and bad points. I mean, the Jamarcus Russell stuff sucks, but at the same time, a team was dumb enough to draft him #1 overall and pay him that. It would be interesting to see under the current scale how many guys are overplaying vs underplaying their rookie deal. I think it's also hurt veterans in ways just because replacements are so much cheaper.
My big gripe is the 5th year option. So, you lived up to your draft hype and are outplaying your contract...and your reward is your team gets to prevent you from bargaining a contract on the open market for another year. The NFLPA completely sold their incoming members out on that one.
