I'm glad he's practicing. I'm glad he looks to be a go for Sunday.
They still need to get a deal done immediately.
I get that he's under contract, but it helps the team to act now. Barring something I'm not going to speak into existence, his value will never be at a more affordable rate than it is right now. The cap will go up. Receiver deals will continue to grow. Yes, the number seems high, but the number after the season will almost certainly be higher.
On top of that, I really don't want to go through an entire year of speculation over any injury he may incur. If the rookie deal remains for the entirety of the year, every bump and bruise will get blown out of proportion. He's either actually going to make "business decisions" on the field, or he's going to be perceived to be doing so.
Time to stop postponing the inevitable. After all these insane wr deals got done, it's a terrible look for a team like the Bengals that already get their share of undeserved criticism for being "cheap" or obsolete in their organizational thinking.
