Yes, it is no doubt he has held the team back for decades and didn't make the best decisions in some of them. But I remember back in 2014 or so when he supposedly told Marvin Lewis to find a place for Devon Still on the practice squad so his daughter could get 100% players NFL health care coverage when she was battling stage 4 stomach cancer at 4 years old. They cut him then resigned him to the PS.
Still himself later said he was very grateful to the Bengals and Mike Brown for this gesture. Her treatments and surgery was in excess of 1 million dollars then.
Being a good person has nothing to do with being a horrible owner of an NFL team. He has always thought that he was highly qualified to be the GM of this team. I dont have time to list all the patheticness that many of us have lived through since 1991. If social media was around then, it would have been very, very ugly.
Mike Brown absolutely has authority in the building today. Im not sure where you heard that he doesnt? It took Jackson Carmen to finally stop him from insisting on who we draft.
As a person many people like Mike, that does nothing for a fanbase that has had to endure his dismal decisions for 35 years.
On the contrary, his father, Paul Brown was not very cordial. He was very strict, very controlling. Some players hated him. Yet he was one of the greatest football minds ever. Give me the asshole that wins championships over the nice guy with a huge ego and much less desire to win.
