Either the O is very good or the D is very good but they can't seem to have both at the same time over decades of trying. The SB year they were kind of lucky with the patch together O line they had. Losing Bates now looks huge but they can't overcome that with another quality player? And Reader? Other teams seem to overcome losing top players but here, it is usually a disaster.
I could be totally wrong but after decades of new coaches, head coaches, position coaches, players coming and going the one aspect that never changes is the front office, ownership and their questionable decisions on team management. I wish Katy or whoever is really in charge of final decisions would hire a REAL NFL GM, hand him the keys to the team and tell him to bring me a Super Bowl win. It won't happen but it is fun to dream. Money be damned. I really wonder what influence Mike Brown has now at his age.
It is is very disappointing that our hopes rest upon a man dying and his daughter selling the team to an owner who is willing to pay what it takes to win.
