He got hurt very early, and it was only about a month ago that they stated it was a whole lot worse than anyone let on about, but he chose to try and play through it instead of missing the entire season. If he can get healthy during the offseason, I think he still has a lot of tread left.
Hubbard still doesn't help the pass rush much, as he's never had 7+ sacks in a season since 2021.
On top of that, he turns 30 this Summer.
He might end up being a 2-down base DE for another season or two, but no one should be thinking he should be a full-time starting DE for a team who needs pass rush help.
Teams like the Browns and Steelers were so good rushing the passer because they had guys who could contribute outside of Garrett/Watt.
Bengals need an actual pass rush threat opposite Hendrickson and/or inside.
This defense could really be boosted if they could get some actual other pass rushers.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
