Because while it is true we need fresh blood particularly at Guard it is also true that a lot of the issues are from poor technique and this line should have looked better than it did. And this is even with admitting that the Bengals offensive system is OL unfriendly.
So what needs to change? Some thoughts:
All of the linemen need tough training on technique. Things like getting low enough that the defenders can't easily get into your cheat (Volson's biggest issue), failing to pickup stunts and shifts correctly and your basic blocking the wrong guy issue. Yes some of this is more awareness than technique but part of technique is getting and correctly obeying the line calls from the Center - and BOTH Guards had issues with that this year.
The blocking scheme and the run game schemes need to integrate properly with the rest of the offensive scheme. It should not feel (like it currently does) like we are running separate and dissimilar offenses when we run versus when we pass. Granted Peters has a role in this but this is probably more Zac and Pitcher.
Yes, all the coaches are going to have to get on the same page scheme wise. They clearly weren't on the same page while Pollack was here.
Need to have a scheme that doesn't tip the Defenses hat so much. Where when we run it is identical to when we pass etc.
We all bring up being in Shotgun far too much but even when we are you can make it look the same and run the ball, same as pass.
Same as when Burrow is under Center.
