This may have been discussed, but Volson may have earned a raise that gets him cut. Last April we know that he was awarded this bonus from a program from the league:

So, without the bonus I think he could have stuck as a cheap backup. Now if he gets caught in a numbers game the raise looks like is isn't guaranteed so its all the more Cincy could be saving with other cuts to give Trey a bump this year or add a vet. It seems wrong to cut a guy with his earned bonus being part of it but he hasn't performed. If he never had it, his job on the roster may be safer though.
