4 year deal with the 2 year option, deal is right at 100 mill. You do the math. It cost the team easily 20-25 million just for Tee because they kicked the can. The previous number had him coming in around 20 per. Dude stated that he wanted to be here. The changing of his agent was a master class in unionization, but it helped to get it done.
It's hard to place the blame directly on the FO because David M is an arse. No telling what he was asking for. Unfortunately, the WR market did change in that 2 year window and it did cost the org a chunk. Ts, if Tee balls out that chunk is worth every penny!
Again, you are looking at him collecting every incentive to get paid that money. For the team, if he plays in all 17 games he earned his deal, if he gets injured, he loses some of those maxium contract money you referenced. Do you feel Tee will play all 68 games (17 per year for 4 years) and get the maximum?
I hope he does, but I would be shocked.
I was wrong, his guarantee is 40 million, still extremely low and why FO did not cave to anything, they gave him a fair deal based on his injury history. All of the talk of Tee can fake injury when he was tagged have gone out the window. He loses a ton of money is he can't play. My guess is Tee took out an. insurance policy in case he suffers a major injury to cover for the lost portion of the maxium deal.
