Thanks for the input, I watch very little college ball, and pretty much only Bengals. The names you provided, I'll watch for in draft. A Safety in round one, I wasn't looking at that. It could help after losing Bates so early in his career. So you are saying D Line is loaded enough to go Safety early and D Line in 3. Bengals could use a Safety the size close to a linebacker if they are going to be in the Nickle and The Dime most of the game as Coach Taylor likes. A Safety that can also come up and run tackle like Bates would help. A David Fulcher type. I really don't think 2 LB's are enough in the AFC North, but if we had a 5th DB close to the size of a LB. I think that is what Bates added when team was winning. Taylor loves extra DB's most of game, but the AFC North has Henry, Chubb and running Qb's like Jackson. Once they get to into the secondary they have burned Bengals already. I like your idea of a good rookie Safety to finally fill the void left by Bates gone. A Safety that can come up and also be that 3rd LB on all these AFC North running plays. Thanks for the input. So you say go Safety early and there are top notch D Linemen deep into the draft, such as your guy from LSU.
I think it’s more likely they go with a a DE or DT in the first round.
I was just throwing the idea out there (of going safety in round 1) and it’s been floated by others too.
Because dline is the strength of the draft it could make sense to wait until the mid rounds.
But edge rusher is so valuable I would think that’s the first pick. We’ll see.
