I know that athletic ability isn't everything, but let's just hope that he can put it together and become a productive player!
It's still a fast time regardless, but for Pro Day times you need to add .07 to the 40 time to compare it to Combine times. That's generally the accepted difference. Also if you're a 275lb DT, you SHOULD be faster than most. Lol
A 4.76 would put him at the low end of DEs at the Combine.

Nah, that's absolutely standard for a UDFA rookie who has never been waived before. Just like we did last offseason with Austin McNamara, Aaron Casey, Elijah Collins, Noah Cain, Rocky Lombardi, Tre Mosley, ect. Gave them all 3 year deals, then we waived them all and only then if they were picked up by other teams were they given just a 1 year deal.
Guaranteed money is a decent indicator on a team's potential to keep them. Most of those guys are getting just $0-15k... which is realistically just a contribution to the "move here and participate in our offseason" fund... but the higher that number is the more the team is initially invested in the player.
Even if they'll absolutely be willing to eat the small hit to cut them, it at least gives you a pretty good idea of their initial standing.
