I see the pick as the BPA pick AND it addresses a position of need.
18. Seattle Seahawks - Grey Zabel, G, North Dakota State
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Emeka Egbuka, WR, Ohio State
20. Denver Broncos - Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas
21. Pittsburgh Steelers - Derrick Harmon, DT, Oregon
22. Los Angeles Chargers - Omarion Hampton, RB, North Carolina
23. Green Bay Packers - Matthew Golden, WR, Texas
24. Minnesota Vikings - Donovan Jackson, G, Ohio State
25. New York Giants (from HOU) - Jaxson Dart, QB, Ole Miss
26. Atlanta Falcons (from LAR) - James Pearce Jr., DE, Tennessee
27. Baltimore Ravens - Malaki Starks, S, Georgia
28. Detroit Lions - Tyleik Williams, DT, Ohio State
29. Washington Commanders - Josh Conerly Jr., OT, Oregon
30. Buffalo Bills - Maxwell Hairston, CB, Kentucky
31. Philadelphia Eagles (from KC) - Jihaad Campbell, LB, Alabama
32. Kansas City Chiefs (from PHI) - Josh Simmons, OT, Ohio State
Zabel, Harmon, Jackson, Starks, and Campbell for sure.
Probably: Barron, Hairston, & Conerly & Simmons.
There are 2nd round guys I'd have taken before Stewart.
And not to bag on the kid. He is a 1st round prospect. No flags at all in terms of personality, work ethic, being a teammate, or his physical traits. Heck, he even played at different spots & gives us some 43/34 versatility and can play inside some.
But HUGE flags on production.
For me, not a first round player (not the same as prospect). And in our situation, I'd have gone with a lesser prospect but a better player.
But he does have just about the highest ceiling of anyone we could have picked (maybe Emmanwori). Let's hope he gets there and sooner rather than later. And if he does, lookout. We'd be Hell on Wheels with Trey AND a productive Stewart. And that, obviously, is the appeal.
Butcwe just whiffed on Murphy in this same mold. More productive. 9.59 RAS. Great teammate & work ethic. Zero sacks.
