Seven acts inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame
#12
OutKast are pioneers in the hip-hop subgenre of rock. They were innovative, and the first southern act to emerge and break through to the mainstream. You can't tell the story of hip-hop without them. Can the same thing be said for Billy Idol? Several acts did what he did before him (and most would agree much better than he did... And I don't hate him). The Black Crowes began as a Exile on Main Street derivative band, and morphed into a jam band. Their biggest hit was a cover song. Can you tell the story of southern rock, hippie music, or rock n roll without them? Yep... I like them well enough too. I think early Soundgarden is the shit... Black Sabbath meets psychedelic music... Not exactly groundbreaking though.

It's ok to not like hip-hop, but OutKast's contribution to it is undeniable.
