We had plenty cap space this offseason to extend Tee, Trey AND Chase. They have chosen to act like they are broke. Could’ve cut Stone and Pratt and freed up almost another 10M too.
They need to have a ballsack and just admit that they don’t feel like Trey is gonna play this well in the future.
I mean what’s the harm in honestly telling Trey “We don’t want you signed for the next 4 years because we do not believe you will be worth this number in years 2-4 of the new deal.”
Idk why we can’t just be real. From interviews with Andrew Whitworth is seems like Mike Brown is honest. When asked he told Whit they were moving on.
Seems like Katie does the more female approach of just trying to finesse players until they walk.
Just tell him you aren’t gonna sign him long term.
I think the writing is on the wall for Trey after the Stewart pick yet another reason I didn't like it. I think the Bengals plan is literally how it worked out with Whitworth. I'd bet they offered him either a raise this year or a raise and 1 more year. He clearly doesn't want that and the Bengals dont want to take just the best trade offer they can get and are gonna try and play hard ball. I don't know why we think it's okay to treat players this way especially the some of the top players on the team. We should've just extended Trey and gone a different direction in rd 1. Or if we refuse to meet him on years than we should do him the service of trading him to a team that will. If he holds out in camp maybe they trade him for a player and a later pick.
