And IMO we don't need even an average defense to win, we just need them to make a stop or two now and then, which earlier in the year they were not even doing that much.
And whether it works out or not, bringing in Al Golden is an inspired choice. The ND defense was not overly stocked with talent, but they worked together as a unit and each man did his job, which worked exceedingly well, until they ran into the OSU OFF juggernaut, which just plain out talented them. So because all the money is on the OFF, and the DEF is going to be young and not as talented, bringing in a guy that got a unit like that to play together and succeed, is king of a smart move.....if it works.
Plus, guys got hurt and personnel changed out. Lowly drafted players came in and outplayed the veterans starting in some cases.
