Just give the man is $30M/per for an extra 2 years and let him retire as a happy Bengal. I mean does every Defensive player worth a damn's story have to end like Geno and Carlos' did?
I don't get the Geno example at all
In 2018, Geno signed a 4 year, $65 mil extension while in the final year of a 5 year, $53 mil deal. He was 30 at the time, coming off a 9 sack campaign in '17, and followed it up with 10 sacks in '18.
But then he hit the wall in '19, recording only 4.5 sacks in 16 games, then was injured in '20 after recording 0 sacks in 8 games.
Geno is actually proof positive why you don't sign aging stars to big money extensions. The last year of his previous contract was the last good year he had left. The extension was a complete waste.
