He was on the south side of 30 years old. Unless you were delusional and thought he would age like wine, you had to expect a dramatic drop in performance over the coming years. He also got $15 mil at signing, plus another $23.5 million in salary in '19 and '20. Even more painful is he didn't retire straight away, holding out hope that he could still play, forcing the club to cut him in '21 and eat $5.2 mil in dead cap in a year they were a defensive stop or a half decent G from being SB champs.
