So Mahomes is an interesting situation to me. In 2020 he signed the 10yr 450 million contract which is the 45 mil per year number. But in 2023 they agreed to a contract restructure that guaranteed him 210 million over the next 4yrs with escalators to reach 218 million which was the most in NFL history at the time so an average of 52.5 to 54.2 million per year. So they will revisit the contract in 2026. Also the Chiefs are not afraid to restructure players to free up cap space giving players more of theyre cash at the time of restructuring. So to act like Mahomes is underpaid and just sits quietly and takes it because that's what he signed is not accurate. Twice since 2020 the Chiefs have given him the highest average in NFL history. Trey has never received that kind of pay (not saying he should) but to act like he's being whiney isn't accurate.
