Nugdukwe; I get a feeling the Bengals don't want him beyond 2026 - if not 2025.
I think with investing a first rounder on his replacement, Bengals are looking at Shemar shadowing him this year and taking over next year.
As I hear and read (I don't know any facts), Trey wants a multi-year extension. Obviously he doesn't want to compete with Mica Parsons and TJ Watt contracts next year.
Also, I think that the salary cap will not expand as it has in the past few years. Additionally; the draft legislation in the House to cut in half the tangible asset tax deduction by the owners, would affect Team values, which could affect the cap as well.
His aim, understandably, is long-term deal this year with guarantees. But the Bengals know all this as well.
So, something has to give here.
