The negative nancy's aren't going any where. Literally in the same thread where we signed Chase/Tee to unprecedented deals, people immediately were "it's about time, but....." in the very same breath.
There are some people that will never be satisfied, regardless of who is in the FO.
It's the nature of the salary cap.
Fans want their big players extended, but they want enough cap space remaining to really stack the team.
Once teams start paying big bucks to certain core members like Chase, Burrow, and Higgins, it means less available for other players and/or the FO has to find ways to get creative with contracts to make the room.
Personally, I would have prioritized Hendrickson over Higgins, but that's me.
Arguably, it's harder to find a sack artist of the caliber of Hendrickson than it is to find a WR2 who can put up ~1000-1100 yards.
Bengals have to either be able to draft and develop very well and quickly to have a cheap but effective defense, find some bargain FAs who perform above their cost, or they may have to accept their defense will likely be somewhat below middle of the pack and hope the offense can score enough to have that not matter.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
