I also think so many contracts the final year doesnt even count as players are just released if they aren't living up to the contract value that it seems the "years" part of the contract should almost be a non issue.
I still think the contract gets done. But no matter where you stand on Trey wanting to pay him or not I am curious if people will be upset if we dont sign him or any other players after freeing up more cap space. I see no reason at all we shouldn't be spending the available cap space we still have this year.
The number resource needed is cash, not cap space as you keep aluding. Check out the amount of cash they put out in 2025 and not done yet as have Stewart and Knight. Who nows maybe they are saving some for a possible trade or in case a very good vet gets cut after camp.
But we do know for a fact, Bengals shelled out a ton of cash in 2025 which you downplay constantly.
FYI, Denver signed Barron leaving only Stewart as #1 not signed. He got almost a 10 million signing bonus (cash) so that is the floor for additional cash needed to sign our 1st round pick. Barron was pick #20 and Stewart #17.

Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!
