He didn't pull any of the stuff Trey did, during his previous contract and that's where Trey is wrong with how they handled it. Hindsight is 20/20 and if he could go back, he may approach it different.
None of that really matters though, when we're talking about signing an older player to an extended contract. Watt is older and got paid. The Bengals could still get close to other recent signings while remaining under the salary cap. The difference is, they steadfastly hold to not wanting to pay anyone beyond a certain age. It's just their own stupid personal policy.
