They know he’s very likely to be at least a top 10 pass rusher for the next couple of years so pay it.  Even if his play falls off dramatically you still more than likely get a couple of good years out of him and injuries can happen to anyone.  
Trey is a very safe bet to play well for the next few years so just pay the   guaranteed years and get him signed.

I agree Clark, pay the man for at least a couple years of guaranteed....
