Trey just had his best year last year. He did not play a ton early in NO. He has a little more tread on his tires than his age would suggest.
Watt is almost 31 and has guaranteed money into the 4th year, and a dead cap of $52 mil in year 3 with a $42 cap hit.

Garrett is 29 and a half. He has $49 mil in dead cap at Year 3, and $29 mil at year 4, $16 mil at year 5, and almost $6 mil in year SIX.

Garrett has dead cap/guarantees into year SIX, and Watt into year 4. There is no way Trey should have to settle for 2. There have to be some guarantees into year 3.
For crying out loud, we just ate $8.5 mil on Cappa/Hubbard/Rankins/Pratt. Trey is worth more than those guys combined, easily.
Plus you are ASSUMING he falls off a cliff. Some decline from where he is is still a good player. IF ut happens.
Fully guarantee 2. Give him $10-$15 in year 3 and get it done. The cap will be well over $200 mil by then. 5% to 7.5% of cap is not a horrible risk, and he'll hardly be worthless in 2027.
Trey knows this is his last contract. It will be short term guarantees. If he balls out it eill be a tag.
