I thought that could have been coached though, not needing to just move on from the dude.
Either way, I didn't feel like a new LB (especially what some would argue is a 2-down LB in a similar mold in DK) was really needed over some other positions of need without needing to reach.
I am with you, there.
I knew we likely were gonna have to live with some warts as we had a ton of holes. But I liked the Burks signing and could have lived with Wilson, Pratt, and Burks + maybe a lower round pick. Or, a real difference maker, like Campbell.
All this talk of Knight being a Vyper does not make a ton of sense to me.
But Golden is a LB coach & he went hard at new LBs: Burks, Knight, Carter, and Giles-Harris in, Pratt, ADG, and Bachie out. And decided to go status quo at S, CB, and 3T (until Bryan).
After Rankins, Hubbard, and Cappa, Pratt/Stone were the highest paid vets kost likely to be replaced. One was and the other took a haircut. If Pratt was willing, he might still be here.
But his insistence on being a 3 down guy when he wasn't anymore, the FF hunting, and the Ossai thing just bugged me. I probably would have gritted my teeth for a year and went to other stuff, but I get ripping the band aid.
