My crystal balls tells me the Bengals made a huge reach by selecting Atkins in the 4th because they could have drafted him in the 5th.
If the Bengals drafted Atkins in the 3rd round how would you know the Bengals would be able to draft him in the 4th? You wouldn't. Since he was drafted in the 4th how do you know the other teams wouldn't have passed on him again? You don't.
Atkins has proven on the field he was worthy of a 1st round pick. He has proven every team's scouting experts wrong. Drafting a player worthy of a first round selection in the fourth round isn't skill, it's luck.
