14 rush attempts by RB's for 56 yards while Dalton had 30 pass attempts. We won but mostly because the players overcame bad coaching ! Mostly AJ and Andy
Game 2
Hill: 11 rush attempts for 22 yards
Bernard: 5 rush attempts for 17 yards
16 rush attempts by RB's for 39 yards while Dalton had 54 pass attempts.
That's 95 total yards by our RB's to the tune of little over 3.1 yards per carry. We're averaging 15 runs and 42 passes per game ! A ratio that is a recipe for disaster.
We have defenders in the offensive backfield on nearly every run play. Our run blocking is horrible to say the least. We've abandoned the run totally for long stretches in both games while still very much in the game. How much of this is because we can't run and how much is because of bad play calling is anyone's guess ?
But whatever is broke we have to fix it quick or it's going to be a very long season ! Zampese gets a D- from me so far
I half agree with your assessment.
But I wouldn't be keen on judging Zampese or this offense just yet. On the road against NYJ and PIT in the first two games would make a rough start for any offense that isn't run by Bill Belicheck. Once the season settles in a bit, I anticipate our offense will be just as effective as last year's. We put up over 400 yards on offense yesterday and got robbed by some bad calls. Let's no overreact here.
However, Denver's defense coming to town implies that we might have at least one more week of very ugly offensive performances to deal with. I wouldn't expect the offense to figure it out just yet.
I'm still irate about this opening stretch of games the NFL schedule makers gave us.
